WHAT IS CONCERT BAND?
USF 'Campus Concert Band' is a band designed for students with experience who want to continue to make music, but are not music majors or minors. This brief description of the Band Ensembles at USF might help you decide which Band is right for you.
CONCERT BAND (Mr. Schnettler): W 7-10pm. No auditions, but HS Band experience is required. Chairs/parts will rotate. Students are expected to perform works of medium difficulty (Grade 3-4). Suggested for non-majors or majors on a secondary instrument.
SYMPHONY BAND (Dr. Robinson): T/R 2-4pm. Audition mandatory (materials available in SOM office). Students are expected to perform very difficult works (Grade 4-6). Suggested for music majors/minors and advanced non-majors.
WIND ENSEMBLE (Dr. Carmichael): T/R 10am-12. Audition mandatory (materials available in SOM office). Students are expected to perform Masterworks (Grade 7+). This ensemble accepts advanced Graduate and Undergraduate music majors/minors only.
REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:
Concert Band will rehearse on Wednesday nights from 7-10pm in FAH102. There will be once concert on April 16th at 8pm.
REGISTRATION:
The course will be offered in the Spring 2008 semesester. You may take the course for 0 or 1 credit hours, but you MUST register for the class in one of these formats. Follow the instructions below:

AUDITIONS:
There are NO auditions for the ensemble. Chairs and part assignments will rotate. For example: A clarinet player will play some songs on 1st clarinet, some on 2nd, and some on 3rd.
PRE-REQUISITES:
Non-Majors are required to have performed on their instrument at the High School level. Music Majors who wish to perform on a secondary instrument are encouraged to do so. There are NO required affiliations, meaning you do NOT have to do Marching Band in order to do Concert Band at USF.
INSTRUMENTS:
Unfortunately, only a small number of instruments will be available to check-out.
MUST provide your own instrument: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet, Trombone
Limited instruments available: Bass Clarinet, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, French horn, Euphonium/Baritone, Tuba
*Percussion: We have enough instruments to provide a full section.
