Hurricanes & EXTREME weather

For hurricanes during pre-season camps, check your email and the HOT website hourly for updates.

For hurricanes during the regular season, the HOT will operate under official University announcements. You can check for updates at the USF Hurricane Information page. You should also check your email for HOT specific announcements.

For other extreme weather or situations, always refer to the USF home page. HOT is an official class, therefore if USF classes are cancelled, HOT rehearsal is also cancelled.

For inclimate weather situations, see below.

Inclimate Weather Procedures

If it looks rainy or cloudy before an outdoor rehearsal - DON'T LEAVE! Park your car, and watch for the signal:

PRE-SEASON CAMPS
Field lights ON: Rehearsal is still on! Check the pavillion for a 'concert setup'. If you don't see one, wait in your car.
Field lights OFF: Rehearsal has been moved. DO NOT GO HOME! WINDS: Theater 2. GUARD: Campus Rec. DRUMS: Pavillion.

REGULAR SEASON REHEARSALS
Field lights ON: Same
Field lights OFF: Rehearsal has been cancelled, you may go home.

Housing

For Field Guard, Percussion, and Leadership Camps: housing will be arranged with other members of the respective groups.

For Pre-Season Band Camp: Residence halls are open on Sunday, August 19th (the first day of Full Band Camp). You will be able to attend Marching Band registration and move in early. There is a $10 per-day fee charged by Residence Services (individual responsibility) for the additional three days prior to the normal move-in date (which is Wednesday, August 22rd). Housing questions should be addressed to the: Department of Residence Services (813) 974-0001.

YOU MUST CONTACT YOUR R.A. (through Resident Services) TO SCHEDULE EARLY CHECK-IN!!!

If you have any problems with acquiring housing, please contact the Athletic Bands office.

Parking

IF YOU ARE NEW TO USF: Please read the parking policies and maps carefully. You WILL be ticketed if you are parked in the wrong lot, and claiming "I didn't know" will not work on your appeal.

Parking for Fowler Field:
You may park in the Sun Dome parking lot (across Alumni Drive).  This lot is open 24/7 for NON-RESIDENTS, VISITORS, and STAFF.  If you have a RESIDENT permit, you may may park in this lot from 5:30pm to 7:00am.

Parking for Theaters and FAH:
You may park in LOT #9A or LOT #3.  These lots are open 24/7 for NON-RESIDENTS, VISITORS, and STAFF.  If you have a RESIDENT permit, you may may park in this lot from 5:30pm to 7:00am.

OTHER INFORMATION

Parking for Sunday, August 19th:
We strongly suggest you purchase your parking permit BEFORE you arrive for camp. Parking services is NOT OPEN on Sunday, so if you don't have a permit by then, you will need to buy a 'Daily Visitor Permit' for $4.00 from the parking machines located throughout campus. USF ENFORCES PARKING 24/7 - YOU WILL BE TICKETED ON SUNDAY!

Resident Permits (if you live on campus):
No resident lots are located near our camp sites. We suggest walking, riding the Bull Runner (campus shuttle), or car-pooling with Non-Resident students.

Registration

CHECK-IN:
You may check in on Sunday, August 19th from 12:00-3:30pm in Theater 2. Your registration should take 30-45 minutes.

YOU SHOULD BRING:
Band Fee ($45 cash or check)
Your student ID (you'll need your U#)
Money for accessories (extra shirts, hats, gloves, HOT logo items)

BAND FEE:
The HOT Band will require each member to pay a $45 fee. This fee will cover all mandatory purchases. We are NOT charging 'Band Bucks' this year.

The $45 band fee may be paid in Cash, or Check (to: Kappa Kappa Psi).
IMPORTANT:YOU MUST PAY THE FEE ON SUNDAY TO GUARANTEE A SPOT IN THE DRILL FOR MONDAY!!!

HOT T-SHIRTS ($10 each):
You must own at least one official gray HOT t-shirt. This t-shirt is worn underneath the uniform jacket during performances. We highly suggest you own at least 2 HOT t-shirts, as we have a few back-to-back performance days. The HOT t-shirt will NOT change year to year, so you can reuse old shirts as long as you want.

HOT LOGO ITEMS:

At registration, you will see a table with various Hats, Visors, T-Shirts, etc with the HOT logo. Members, parents & fans can purchase these items with cash or check (to: Kappa Kappa Psi).

BLACK SOCKS:
All winds & percussion need BLACK SOCKS for the HOT Uniform. Socks must be at least ankle high (NOT 'no-see' socks). You will not find black socks for sale at registration.

UNIFORM SHOES (Winds & Percussion):
Any black marching band shoe (in good condition!) is acceptable. There will be a table at registration if you wish to purchase new shoes. Sizing samples will be available. If you're not sure if your old shoes are acceptable, ask your section leader.

WE CANNOT ACCEPT DEBIT or CREDIT CARDS. ALL PAYMENTS MUST BE IN CASH OR CHECK (to: Kappa Kappa Psi).

Outside Rehearsal

YOU SHOULD BRING:
Athletic shoes (mandatory), instrument/equipment, flip folder, instrument needs (reeds, oils, etc.)
PLENTY OF WATER AND SUNSCREEN!

YOU SHOULD WEAR:
Athletic shoes (staff will not allow you to participate in flip flops or bare feet)
Cool, comfortable clothes, sunglasses, hats
